My career started in Venezuela where I earned my degree as a medical doctor in 2001, followed by a residency in Psychiatry providing me an understanding of the biological, physiological and emotional bases of behavior. As a psychiatrist in Venezuela, I practiced in a multiple variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient psychiatric wards and clinics, as well as private practice.
Simultaneously, I completed a diplomate in Lacanian psychoanalytic psychotherapy which I utilize to promote a greater understanding of how emotions and behavior are entwined, and to ultimately facilitate change. It is an approach most concerned with experiences and feelings that interfere with our ability to make sense of, and meaningfully experience, ourselves and the world around us.
Psychotherapy is a deeply personal journey that differs for everyone. It creates a secure sanctuary for clients to discuss their psychological and emotional intricacies under professional supervision. My aim is to provide guidance and support to those grappling with life disruptions resulting from anxiety, depression, grief and trauma. Realizing that such conditions are treatable with professional assistance is the first step towards building resilience and restoring peace in your life. Moreover, any mental health conditions can severely impact one’s self-perception, but with the right support, the challenges they present can be mitigated.

Beyond individual and relationships counseling, I also dedicate a portion of my professional commitment towards the health and wellbeing of seniors and immigrants. In terms of senior counseling, I advocate for a supported aging journey as opposed to an isolated one, and I am driven to help seniors and their families navigate through the challenges that come with age-related changes. Furthermore, I have a deep understanding of immigration struggle. As a Venezuelan immigrant myself, I have a personal grasp of the difficulties one can encounter during the process, including finding’s one’s place, sense of identity, and belonging. This has tremendously shaped both my perspective and my approach to offering support to other immigrants.
When working with me, you can expect our sessions to be a harmonious blend of trust, validation, and growth. I welcome adults, seniors and their families with open arms, creating an atmosphere free of judgment where we can explore your strengths and objectives together.
My practice thrives on merging strength-based and evidence-based approaches, employing various therapeutic techniques such as CBT, DBT, ACT, solution focused and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
I am dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive and respectful space, and believe firmly that healing happens on the foundation of a trusting, authentic relationship.
